Hi there,
ο»ΏHappy July! As we celebrate Independence Day, I'm reminded of how fortunate we are to live in a community where neighbors come together to serve, volunteer, and support one another. With the summer heat in full swing, don't forget to stay cool and stay hydrated while enjoying the holiday weekend with family and friends! π
Although Springfield has wrapped up its spring legislative session, our work here in the district continues. This summer has already been filled with opportunities to connect with residents of all ages, and we're excited to continue bringing resources, events, and services directly to our community.
In this issue, you'll find an Independence Day message, updates on upcoming office events, and highlights from our recent outreach across the district. Read on to stay informed and engaged and, as always, let us know if there's a topic you'd like to see covered in a future update.
ο»ΏIf you have questions about anything included in this newsletter, or about a topic we didn't cover, please don't hesitate to reach out to our office.

| | Celebrating Independence Day | | As we gather with family, friends, and neighbors this Independence Day, we have the opportunity to reflect on the ideals that have shaped our nation for nearly 250 years: freedom, opportunity, and the belief that every generation has a role to play in building a stronger future. | | |
The Fourth of July is a time to honor the service of those who have defended our country and recognize the countless people in our own communities who embody the spirit of service every day.
From our veterans and first responders to teachers, small business owners, volunteers and families, it is our neighbors who make our community such a special place to call home.
As your State Representative, I remain committed to working toward an Illinois where every resident has the opportunity to thrive and where government reflects the values of service, community and respect for one another. I hope this holiday offers you time to relax, connect with loved ones and celebrate all that unites us.
From my family and office to yours, I wish you a safe and joyful Independence Day!

While Independence Day reminds us of the values that unite us as a nation, those same values come to life right here at home. Across the district we've had the opportunity to celebrate the people, organizations, and communities that make District 51 such a wonderful place to live.
Last month, I had the pleasure of attending the America in Bloom Meet & Greet hosted by the Village of Hawthorn Woods, Hawthorn Woods Community Bank, and M/I Homes at Kemper Lakes Golf Club.
It was wonderful to connect with community leaders and welcome America in Bloom National Advisors Alex Pearl and Debbie Hamrick as they visited Hawthorn Woods. Thank you to everyone involved for showcasing the pride, partnership, and community spirit that make Hawthorn Woods so vibrant.

That same spirit of service and community extends far beyond a single event. I recently had the opportunity to see some of these efforts first hand.
I had the opportunity to visit Hope Center and learn more about the incredible work they are doing to support families across our community. From their food pantry, free health clinic, ESL classes, and legal services to Kylee's Closet, Hope Farm, and their greenhouse, Hope Center is connecting residents with a wide range of resources and opportunities. It was inspiring to see the impact of their work firsthand and meet the dedicated staff and volunteers who make it all possible.
Thank you to the Hope Center team for the warm welcome and for your continued commitment to serving our community.

Supporting our community also means making state government more accessible. One of the ways we do that is by bringing essential services directly into the district, helping residents save time and connecting them with the resources they need close to home.
Last week, our office hosted another successful Mobile DMV event in partnership with the Illinois Secretary of State's Office and Palatine Township.
Together, we helped 44 constituents access essential DMV services, including issuing 39 driver's licenses and state IDs, processing 34 REAL IDs and renewing 5 vehicle stickers. Events like these make it easier for residents to access important government services without having to travel to a DMV facility.
Thank you to the Illinois Secretary of State's Office and Palatine Township for helping bring these services directly into our community. We look forward to hosting more Mobile DMV events in the future!

Our Youth Advisory Council wrapped up its Community Budget Project this week!ο»Ώ ο»Ώ
Over the past two meetings, students researched local community-based organizations, discussed the needs they address, and worked together to build and debate a mock community budget. This week, they finalized their funding recommendations after thoughtful discussion and collaboration.
Want to have your voice heard? Our last Youth Advisory Council meeting is coming up on Monday, August 3, and all high school students are invited to join the conversation and help shape local priorities. For details feel free to contact us at info@repsyed.com or call us at (773) 916-6553.

Our Community Clothing Drive is underway! We're collecting new and gently used clothing, shoes, blankets, backpacks and other essentials to support local clothing closets and families in need. There's a particular need for men's clothing, as well as new socks, underwear and hygiene products. You can drop off donations at our district office in Palatine through September 12th.
