What is a witness slip and why is it important?

A witness slip allows for individuals or organizations to formally express their support, opposition, or neutrality on a bill being considered. They are submitted online during committee hearings where you can provide testimony or simply submit your position. Witness slips are a crucial tool in the legislative process that offers the opportunity for constituents to play an active role in the legislative process and have their voices heard.
How do I file a witness slip? 📃
Submit a witness slip by following these steps:
Visit ilga.gov
Click on Senate or House Schedule
Under hearings, find the committee that is presenting your bill, then select ‘Details’
Click Create a Witness Slip
Complete the form and submit the witness slip
